Hello, I’m Don Marsh. Welcome to St. Louis on the Air.

Our program today is a reminder that there’s a lot going on in our community about which we know too little. The headlines tell of the problems facing public schools. But, there are some things happening that are extremely positive. There are a lot of achievements and achievers who don’t make the headlines.

Have you heard of the College Bound program? Chances are you have not. It’s a relatively new program that helps motivated high school students go to college and stay there. These are students who might otherwise not have the opportunity because of conditions over which they have little control, specifically due to the lack of resources typically needed to move onto higher education.

College Bound was one of the winners of the 2007 Focus St. Louis “What’s Right With the Region” award. College Bound is our subject today.
